Sun of God

You protected me
Like no other
Through wind and rain
and stormy weather

You understood me
The sun
My warmth
Destiny
Riding
On waves
Balanced awakening
Shone through
The dark
Of deathbed’s taking

Nothing
Can stop
The stars from
Shining
Or bad habits
Dying
Love drew the
Pain up deep
Tossed me around
Stole my sleep

But you
Oh Sun
Of God
Made this earth
Worth the trod
Showed me home
Blessed the sod
And no one
Can shade the
Heat of embrace
Even when cold
Settles deep in place.
