Fall fires

This burn
Burns more than
Fall fires at night
Roasted marshmallows
With stars out for flight.

These ashes blow
Cross my path
You promised a love
That would last.
And fires start small
But grow fast
Close to the heat
Of our past.

Dance with me now
It’s not too late
Before time puts a lock
On love’s gate
Cause we wasted
Our chance to stargaze
Set eternal romance

Its the sweater I wore
First embrace
When my mind
Saw you build our homeplace
It’s the hat you wore
On that stone
As you whispered
You’ve been so alone.

Take me home
Loves not wrong
The fire is proof
Of how strong
We burn
Then we die
No time to lie
To cry, sweat the why
It’s the heat shows
Love’s alive.
