Simply Simple

Life is simply simple
The wise man calmly said
And slowly dozed away
Nodding down his head

Sitting at his feet
Pulling at his shirt
The little girl awoke him,
“But why do people hurt?”

Rustled from his sleep
The dream he dreamt so deep
He patted on her head
And bid her guide to bed.

Life is simply simple
Now don’t forget this truth
I’ve climbed many mountains
To bring you down this news.

Live, and love, and eat
Before you cross the street
Don’t admit to guilt
Or be cornered by defeat.

She grabbed him by the hand
Looked him in the eye
And tearful then replied
If life is simply simple,
“Why then must we die?”
